Description
Perserverance – Ceramic Egg on Driftwood.
An egg discovered in an unlikely place waiting to reveal itself.
The ceramic egg was hand built, and fired in the “Naked Raku” technique with horse hair. Afterwards, many pleasant hours were spent applying thin washes of color to accent and enhance the marks left by the horse hair.
The wood for this piece was found on one of my many beach walks near my home in Campbell River. It has been carefully cleaned, sanded and carved to accept the egg, and hang securely on the wall…then waxed and polished. A pin holds the egg securely in place.
This piece measures approximately 30″ in length, 16″ in width and 5″ in depth.
